ALI M5529 linux driver 1.0 beta 3 (Sep. 6, 1999) This version ensures (U)DMA support for ALI 1543 and 1543C, 1535, 1535D onboard chipsets (for kernel version 2.2.x and 2.3.x). [Changes] 1. Display an ALi logo, you can see it only when your ALi driver works properly. The logo is similar to this one ************************************ * ALi IDE driver (1.0 beta3) * * Chip Revision is C2 * * Maximum capability is - UDMA 66 * ************************************ 2. Fix a DMA problem when we set (U)DMA mode to "old" device. (When the old device is still "BUSY", the driver should wait it much longer before theat it as an error) 3. Fix a bug about the Ali old chips that does not support UDMA. 4. Two patches are available now --- 2.2.12 and 2.3.16 [Getting the newest version] You can always find the newest beta version in http://bean.cs.ccu.edu.tw/~trouble/LinuxIDE I'll try to fix bugs as soon as possible, and put a new patch here. When I think the patch solve problems reported by users, I'll inform the MIS to put it to the ALi website (http://www.ali.com.tw). So, befor you report yor problems to me, you should download the newest one and test it. [Install] See INSTALL [Reporting your problems] If you can not understand the procedure described below or you have any suggession, feel free to contact me (cjtsai@ali.com.tw) 1. Make sure that you use the newest driver (http://bean.cs.ccu.edu.tw) and you can see the ALi logo (see [Changes]) during the boot time. 2. After you "login" into your system, get a ali_ide.log by: (a) Type: dmesg > ali_ide.log (b) If your problem is about the disablment of DMA, use "hdparm" on the error devices. For example, you have two devices /dev/hda and /dev/hdc. Type: hdparm -t /dev/hda /dev/hdc >> ali_ide.log (Note: use '>>', not '>') 3. e-mail the "ali_ide.log" to me (cjtsai@ali.com.tw)
